Travel: Kauai (Hawaii)

It seems like a lot of people are traveling to the Hawaiian islands this year, despite all of the restrictions and cautionary measures that are put in place. This was our first time to Hawaii and we put a lot of efforts towards choosing the right island, planning activities and dinner reservations, and all of the other logistics that go into planning a trip.

We chose Kauai because it’s less tourist-y than most of the other islands, which means fewer people travel there and that played a big part in our decision because of covid. Kauai also really stood out to us because it was said to be more for adventurous couples; It has beautiful beaches, but also plenty of outdoor activities like kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, and other tours.

Most of the island is uninhabited, and actually protected, which means no roads or any way to navigate, which also means the best way to see the entire island is by helicopter. Overall, I would highly recommend anyone with an adventurous spirit to check out Kauai! It was one of our favorite trips.

From DFW, we few to Denver (2 hours), and Denver to Lihue (6 hours)
Kayaking Tour on the Wailua River

Hiking Trail to Opaeka’a Falls
Scenic Overlook in Princeville (North Shore)
North Shore: The island is full of so many gorgeous beaches, many of them were almost empty as well
The mountains are the backdrop for everything on this picturesque island
South Shore: We stayed at the Sheraton in Koloa, which offered ocean-front rooms
Helicopter Tour: I would highly recommend this experience to anyone – It was magical, even though I am afraid of heights
There are waterfalls everywhere on the island!

Enjoyed a beautiful sunset while dining at The Beach House
On our last day, we a secret beach and just enjoyed the view
