Winter is heavy upon us, and if you’re looking for something scrumptious and filling, look no further! What could be more comforting than homemade bread? This pita bread recipe pairs great with homemade hummus, or you could stuff falafels inside with some toppings to make a pita sandwich!
Although I’ve made homemade pita bread before, this recipe calls for baking in the oven with a baking stone. It is somewhat of a specialty kitchen item, but you could use cast iron in its place or you can purchase one (if you’re really into baking breads) for around $10-$20.
The hardest part of this recipe is waiting – There’s a lot of down time while waiting for the dough to rise, rest, and rest, and… rest. While you’re working on your pitas, I’d suggest making something to go with them at the same time!
